Grif The Superpuppy

Well, we finally found a place for Boomer, which meant we could finally get the German Shepherd puppy we’ve been longing for. So, this past Saturday, we made the 2.5 hour drive up to Nashville to meet with Friends of Hannah Animal Rescue, and pick up our new little friend, who we have affectionately named Grif:

Grif 1

He’s mostly purebred (thanks Roy at Best Buy) German Shepherd, as you can see from the photos. We’re pretty sure he has some Chow in him somewhere down the line, as his tongue has some blue spots. His tongue has blue spots, which is apparently common in purebred German Shepherds. I had no idea. You can also see from the photos that he is 100% adorable.

Our other dogs are treating him as one of their own, as they should. Shadow, our 85lbs white German Shepherd, is very careful when playing with him. It’s the funniest thing to watch; she’ll BARK BARK BARK BARK at him (she is VERY vocal while playing), but won’t wrestle or push him with more than a feather’s touch. He’s still a little scared of his gigantic new friend, but making good progress. I think once he gets a little bigger he’ll feel more confident playing with Shadow.

Depression Cookie

depression-cookie

This was inside my fortune cookie this evening at our local Chinese buffet restaurant. I just have to say….wtf?!

“It could be better, but its good enough.” Uhh.. okay.. so.. your wonderful, mystic advice to me is “yeah, your life could be better, but why bother? Settle for mediocrity.”

Brilliant. It’s a new generation of Chinese fortune cookies: Depression Cookies!

It really is brilliant, actually.. drive the population into depression, causing them to want to eat more… where’s the best place to drown your depression in prepared food? That’s right. A buffet.

Diabolical.

B.J. versus Shadow

bj-versus-shadow

Shadow made a new friend last night..

Our White GSD met Amber’s grandparents’ Pug puppy yesterday. As you can see, despite B.J.’s obvious size handicap versus Shadow, she is absolutely fearless. Lucky for her, Shadow was incredibly tolerant of her playful “attacks”.

I still think it’s funny that Shadow has made such great friends with a creature less than 1/10th of her size. Good girl. :)
