Complete Windows XP Hardware Drivers For Gateway MT3421 Notebook
Note! Since rapidshare sucks and deleted my files, I am biting the bullet and putting these files on my server, using my own bandwidth. If anyone has a server and would be willing to mirror these files, please contact me.
Late last year, I purchased a Gateway MT3421 notebook from Office Depot to replace my damaged and unusable Toshiba Satellite M45. At this point, I wish I had bought another Toshiba.
I have spend the past 5 months trying to find a complete set of Windows XP drivers for this machine, as it came pre-installed with Vista, and I don’t want Vista. This has not been an easy task, but I have finally come out on top, and there are no more yellow (!) in my device manager! Hooray!
To aid those facing similar issues with this particular notebook, I am redistributing the drivers here for everyone.
Note: These will ONLY work with Gateway MT3421. If you have another Gateway model, you’ll need to search elsewhere, and I wish you the best of luck. Without any further ado, the drivers:
nVidia Chipset Driver: . . . . . 84 MB
nVidia Display Driver: . . . . . 46 MB LAN Driver:. . . . . . . . . . . 40 MB HDA 56k Modem Driver:. . . . . . 822 KB RealTek WiFi Driver: . . . . . . 167 KB SigmaTel HD Audio Driver:. . . . 8 MB Coprocessor Driver:. . . . . . . 172 KB
thank you very much
You’re very welcome. Enjoy!
hi. i try to install SigmaTel HD Audio Driver for my MT3421 Gateway and it doesn’t work! PLEASE HELP ME
Thanks for all the research! How do you like the MT3421 with XP?
I multi boot Vista/Ubuntu7.10/Ubuntu8.04A6. Sound is broken in Ubuntu 7.10 WLAN in 8.04A6 both fixable from command line, just not out of the box. Vista is just such a pig even after upgrading to 2G RAM, I want it gone.
Andreybej, this is not a tech support forum, and you definitely did not give enough detail about your problem for anyone to be able to help you at all. Are you running XP? What did you do? Any error messages? Did you try to install another audio driver prior to this one? Please keep in mind that I did not create these drivers - I merely found them on the web after a few months of research. I can’t really support these drivers, so I’ll say it now, since I should have in the post: Download and Install at your own risk! These drivers work on my Gateway MT3421. I have not tried to install them on any other machine except for my specific notebook. I do not in any way warrant that these drivers will work on your machine. Like I said, I found them for me, and decided to share them. Please make sure that you have followed the directions in the readme file that is included with all of these drivers.
Jim, I love XP on the MT3421, it runs so much faster than Vista. As far as Ubuntu, yes, I too had trouble getting audio to work in Gutsy, and it does work fine for me in Hardy. WLAN is not an issue for me, as I transplanted the Atheros MiniPCI WLAN card out of my broken Toshiba, replacing the Realtek card that shipped with the MT3421. The Atheros card is fully supported by Ubuntu with no additional configuration needed.
You are a fantastic person thank you!!!…
Thank you very much!!!
You are realy super gui!!!!
Hi, could you upload the coprocessor driver to somewhere else besides megaupload? I’m from Mexico and I can’t download anything from there
Thanks, was very useful!
and I know how hard is to find all these dirvers, I have all the XP drivers for the GATEWAY MT6707 , If someone needs it, just ask
Andrew I would love to have those drivers for the MT6707.
Also any advice on how to get XP to install on it. I get the “no hard drive installed on your comuter” error when trying to load from my XP cd.
Aaron, the MT6707 has a SATA hard disk, which XP does not have drivers for out of the box. You need to get on Google and find a guide for adding drivers to a windows XP CD, and add your SATA HDD Drivers. Then XP will be able to install.
I just wanted to say thank you very much, you could spark a driver gateway here. Okay that’s big thinking but back to this. THANK YOU. Not a lot of people when they find all of their drivers are considerate enough to share them like this. I would like to contribute. These drivers just set up my best friends laptop. I have ALL of the drivers for the Gateway MT6729 including the SATA drivers if you want to slipstream your XP disc. Thanks again. =]
Tanks Bro,
Andrew If you would please, I have a need for the Xp drivers for the gateway m6707.
pre-dated thanks included.
is there any sound drivers for the Gateway MT6707?
for xp
Danny, I don’t know.
I only researched XP drivers for the MT3421.
I would try http://support.gateway.com and see if you can find an equivalent XP model. That’s how I found the MT3421 drivers.
Wow, thank you so much. I barely found this page and almost gave up on the graphics and co processor. you should set up a paypal donate and those who truly appreciate this will do so. also put more “keywords” so this page is easy to find in google. also go put this url link in forums that people ask about the MT 3421. i just got one last thing..how in the hell did you find all these and where???
Thanks Riz. I’m glad you found these files useful.
There is another gateway model, MT3418 or something (I dont remember), which is absolutely identical to the 3421, the only difference is that it is shipped with XP instead of Vista.
So, naturally, the XP drivers for the 3418 (or whatever) work perfectly for the 3421!
Thanks for the comment :)
Hi Aaron!
I need the Gateway MT6707 drivers. HELP! Thanks!
Thanks a ton for this! Very awesome!
Andrew,
Do you still have those drivers for the MT6707. Looks like several of us are interested but have not been answered.
Why do all comments show up as MAR 11th? This is being posted Aug. 12th, 2008.
Comments date crap is fixed.. it was the new theme I was using. Back to the old one while I look into it.
hey i whant to get xp on my mt3418 can some body help me thanks
ohcoa, the way I found the XP drivers for the 3421 is by looking in the MX3000 series. These notebooks are physically identical to the MT series, but they are sold with XP instead of Vista.
Here are links to all of the MX34xx series laptops, one of them should match your MT3418’s hardware. Good luck!

Just wanted to say THANKS. I have downloaded the driver pack. When I have the time, I’ll slip in a new hard drive into my MT3421 and give it a go. If you ever find yourself in Northeastern, Indiana… please drop into Geneva Indiana’s Briggs Hardware Store. I think you will find several pounds of gourmet quality KeyIII chocolates sitting under glass in the candy case with your name on them! In reference to post #3. Being a devotee of Sigmatel’s beloved Rio Karma portable audio player, I am pretty sure that I noticed that my Gateway 3421 has Sigmatel audio. Was more than one type of sound device used in the 3421?
Take care.
JB
John,
Comment #3 mentions Sigmatel.. not sure what you mean.
Thanks for the comment, I’m glad you found these useful :)
